Psychological Causations
These are probably controversial but I'm nothing if not controversial at times. But maybe these have been mentioned before but I just haven't seen them. I've been musing on possibilities since deciding that my therianthropy stems from psychological reasons and ended up with a couple ideas for psychological therianthropy in a general sense. Whether these explain me or not is unknown at present and I won't be ruling them out too soon. I like to dig into everything.
First idea has more to do with theriotype formation. Someone could have had vague, non-specific nonhuman feelings upon finding the community. During the research phase to find a theriotype, the therian latched onto an animal or two unconsciously and adopted those traits and mannerisms. The identity becomes ingrained in the therian and cannot be removed.
Second idea has to do with emergence of therianthropy in general. Most would disagree with this being a legitimate form. I, however, think that someone finding therianthropy and causing such feelings in themselves is legit under the following premise:
It's possible that the second idea involves a sort of predisposition to identifying as nonhuman that just wasn't noticeable prior to finding the definition rather than genuine therianthropy-by-exposure. Both of these ideas run on being unconscious and not being changeable with either time or effort.

- Unconscious
- Conscious & unconscious attempts to get rid of it don't work
- Time does nothing to get rid of it either
